Research, innovation and intergenerational collaboration. Three are the values inspiring the synergy between Lineapelle and Polimoda: the trade fair organisers and the Tuscan academy have signed the agreement for the creation of a Research Hub in Scandicci, the center of investigation, development and promotion of leather products and the material that constitutes it. “The project is compelling and projects us towards a new training method – is the comment entrusted to a note by Gianni Russo, president of Lineapelle – with more concreteness and deep knowledge of our world”.
“The creation of a Research Hub on leather will be a great added value for fashion students, but also an enhancement of the excellence of our territory, as well as a precious resource for companies – adds Polimoda president, Ferruccio Ferragamo -. Thanks to the collaboration with Lineapelle we can put together the best knowledge about the sector and thus contribute to its future development”.
Lineapelle and Polimoda
The headquarters of Research Hub, as we said, will be at Polimoda in Scandicci. The center will be able to rely not only on 3,000 square meters for classrooms and laboratories, but also on a consolidated methodology of study and research, on the expertise of teachers and on the experience in carrying out projects with companies, as well as the creativity and diversity of students from all over the world. Lineapelle will bring knowledge regarding the supply chain and the market. The Milan exhibition center will also make available a privileged access to technical equipment, technological innovation and materials useful for research.
The synergy will also translate into the integration of specialist interventions within the training courses. But it will translate also in training services for local operators and in the creation of events and exhibition moments. Last but not least, in the creation of a unique archive of materials.
The meaning of the collaboration
The collaboration between the two subjects is not new: both Lineapelle and Polimoda have already made their skills available to each other. The creation of the Research Hub in the heart of the Italian district of luxury accessories, however, is part of a different dynamic. “In the perspective of the impact of the current health crisis on the sector, on the possible response and on the role of training – Polimoda and Lineapelle communicate – the need to rethink the models of the fashion system has emerged. By privileging values related to research, innovation and intergenerational collaboration”. The Research Hub, therefore, is proposed as a real lever for the recovery of the fashion system.
