Un Talento per la Scarpa (A Talent for Shoe), the international competition for young designers promoted by the San Mauro Pascoli shoe manufacturers united in Sammauroindustria, is 25 years old. In other words: CBR Tacstile, Giuseppe Zanotti, Pollini, Sergio Rossi and the CERCAL school. For the silver anniversary, the theme of the competition is a tribute to craftsmanship and know-how. Almost an open challenge to these years of extreme digital, accelerated by artificial intelligence.
Ode to savoir faire
“Back to creativity. Back to creative craftsmanship”. On this theme, young talents can give free rein to their creativity by producing sketches, drawings, stylistic research, collages of images. Objective: to design a fashionable, feminine shoe. Participation is reserved for those born after December 31, 1993, with no age limit for those enrolled in design or art schools. The winner will receive 1,000 euros together with the opportunity to see their entry “translated” into a prototype. The winner will be one of the companies associated with Sammauroindustria. Participation is free of charge. Deadline: September 4, 2025.
Internationality
Over 25 years there have been more than 2,500 participants in the initiative, designed as a place for young talent to emerge. The success has rewarded different parts of the world, as in the case of the last edition, won by Alexandros Vasdekis, from Greece. A variety of themes have been addressed by young people: from Cinderella to Cleopatra, from cinema (Mad Max, The Great Beauty and La dolce vita) to the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy. Then: the Divine Comedy, up to a tribute to the creative genius of Sergio Rossi.
